MY STORY

Inbal Hanasab — my journey to VEDICA

I grew up with Persian healing traditions, chose a career in law and diplomacy, and discovered Ayurveda when I needed support myself. Today, I bring each part of that journey into my work at the clinic.

A career in law and diplomacy

I did not plan to become an Ayurveda practitioner. I grew up with my family’s Persian healing traditions, but first chose a career in law. I earned an LL.B. with honours and an LL.M. at Bar-Ilan University, trained in Herzog’s commercial and commercial litigation departments, and studied international law at American University in Washington, DC.

In 2014, I served as a legal adviser in the Office of the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania. I then moved to Washington, where I served in Israel’s Ministry of Finance economic mission at the Israeli Embassy from 2014 to 2016, first as senior adviser to the Economic Minister and later as acting head of the mission.

My work involved relations with the US government on loan guarantees, the Joint Economic Development Group (JEDG) and tax treaties. I built a network of around 50 investment leaders at Jewish investment funds and endowments and coordinated a first-of-its-kind investment summit. Back in Israel, I worked as a senior lawyer at Meitar from 2019 to 2021, advising venture capital funds on fundraising, corporate governance and investment agreements.

Alongside that work, my partner Sariel and I developed several ventures, including an online dating venture whose progress was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Becoming a patient myself

I was sceptical of approaches outside Western medicine. Fertility treatments, followed by a personal health crisis, made me pause and reconsider the way I was living.

My experience as an Ayurveda patient brought a personal change that made me want to study the subject in depth. It also reconnected me with my Persian roots and the healing traditions I had grown up with. That personal journey led me to professional training and, eventually, to opening my own clinic.

From a personal journey to VEDICA

Today, I am a mother to Ori and Eyal and the founder of VEDICA in Tel Aviv. I bring together Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, and my family’s Persian knowledge of food, spices and herbs to develop nutrition and routine guidance that fits each person’s life.

I trained at PranaVeda School of Ayurveda, focusing on individual nutrition and the use of herbs, and I am a member of the Association for the Promotion of Ayurvedic Medicine in Israel. Consultations complement existing medical care, taking account of diagnoses, medications and relevant test results.

Law and diplomacy taught me to listen carefully, ask questions and examine details. I bring those habits into the clinic: first understanding the person’s story, then working together on practical steps for everyday life.

Beyond the clinic

I lead workshops and talks (Hebrew page) and herb and spice tours inspired by the Silk Road, and host the Hebrew podcast “Medicine on Your Plate”. I also continue to practise law and sing jazz and blues.

You can also listen to my Radio Tel Aviv interview about herbs and spices (in Hebrew), or read about Persian traditions and how they inform my work.
